The Winners of the Silencio New Years Challenge! 🎉

Ok, let’s first recap on the New Years Challenge, shall we?

The Silencio New Years Challenge was by far the biggest activity we did so far! And it served several purposes:

1. Of course we wanted to give you something to reward our dedicated contributors!

2. We wanted to create an activity that had the potential to fuel our growth and onboard new users to Silencio!

3. An increased amount of measurement was the perfect way to test our systems on both their robustness as well as on how we can detect unnormal and suspicious measurement behaviour!

Did we reach these targets? Ohhhh yes, we did! You guys really outdid yourselves!

1. With a total of 1 ETH and $1000 in $KREST, we think the prize pool was quite substantial! So yes, this one can be ticked off pretty easily ✅

2. When we started the challenge on Dec 11th, we had ca. 44,000 users. When the challenge ended on Jan 11th, we were up by ca. 20.000 users 🤯 This is far more than what we had expected and we are more than happy with this huge growth of our user base! So yes, another one ticked off ✅

3. We took a very close look at the measurements that were flagged by our systems as suspicious. The learnings we can take from this further increase our improvements with regards to people trying to “beat the system” are hugely helpful. Therefore, also this third objective was met ✅

We are more than amazed by how much time and effort the winners have put into this! So you definitely deserve these prizes!

And let it be said:

We reviewed every single measurement of the top users. Our examination focused on detecting suspicious measurements and unusual behaviors. We double-checked users who were flagged by our systems to avoid mistakenly removing valid users based on isolated anomalies. So yes, these measurements are legit!

New App-Updates coming soooon! 👀

Yep, we’ll soon be launching another update on the Silencio App! And booooy, there will be some great new features coming your way!

You want some spoilers? Alright!

Measurement Duration Increase

Pretty simple and straightforward adjustment:

Currently, the maximum duration that you can measure is limited at 20 minutes. With the coming update, we will increase this to 30 minutes.

Referral Percentage Increase

We know you love our Referral feature. For every friend of person that uses your code when signing up to the Silencio App, you currently receive 3% of their Noise Coins.

Now we will increase this from 3% to 5%

And we know that this question will come up, so be clear right form the start:
Yes, this will be applied for all referrals in the past! However, there are some adjustments to be made, so please give us some time until the backward calculation is updated for your already existing “old” referrals!

The BIG one! Switch from “Members” to “Sensors”

Ok, maybe there’s some explanation necessary for this one!

Now what will happen with the next update is a switch from “Members” to “Sensors”.

“Why?” you’re wondering? Well, let us explain…

We are a DePIN-project. And as such, we rely upon our contributors to run a decentralized infrastructure which is in our case is based upon sensor-based data measurements. And while at the moment, the only available sensor type you can use to measure noise is your smartphone, this will change in the future. Think of wearables such as your smartwatch or earplugs such as AirPods or others. This will naturally lead to the effect, that one user can contribute with several sensors. So it just makes much more sense to provide the information on the number of “Sensors” in our network than the number of “Members”.

For your account, there will be no change and nothing needs to be done from your side. So you just keep on doing what you do but now you know about this upcoming change!

That’s all?

Not really, there will be some more adjustments and improvements added with the new update but these are the ones we wanted to share upfront with you!

Silencio in the Messari Crypto “State of DePIN 2023”-Report 📰

You know Messari? Messari is “ the leading provider of crypto market intelligence products that help professionals navigate crypto with confidence.”

And just recently, Messari and the VC “Escape Velocity” published the “State of DePIN 2023”-Report, written by Sami Kassab and Salvador Gala!

In t​heir report, they took a deep dive into the current DePIN landscape and take a look at the reasons why DePIN is such a promising sector. So if you’re new to all of this, that report is a must-read!

BUT, beyond all the insights, knowledge and mindblowing details, we are incredibly proud that Silencio is mentioned in the report separately!

Silencio is the #3 DePIN on nodes added in 2023

On page 38, Silencio is displayed as the top three rapidly scaling DePIN with 50.000 nodes (aka Sensors) added in 2023. And if you follow us closely, we’re now already at more than 80.000!

Silencio as an example for a leading software-based DePIN scaling BEFORE the actual token launch

Also, on page 42 we are being highlighted as an example for a leading software-based DePIN that has been able to scale even before launching a token. Just imagine what will happen once we actually launch 🤯

Imagine this:

Huge areas of untouched nature. Wide planes and lush green forests as far as the eye can see. Mountains, topped by snow all year round. Waterfalls from glaciers that have existed since the last ice age. Wildlife. Nature. Relaxation. Time to contemplate…

Sounds good? We think so too!

So the Silencio Management Team decided to head to Patagonia, Argentina, for team building, workshops, and also some relaxation. And here are some impressions! The results, you will see over the coming months!
